Adirondack Health Institute (AHI) is an independent, non-profit organization supporting hospitals, physician practices, behavioral health providers, community-based organizations, patients and others in our region to transform healthcare and improve population health. AHI is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our team in our Glens Falls, NY office.

The Data Analyst contributes to the success of AHI initiatives by identifying, collecting, aggregating, analyzing, and summarizing data that supports planning and evaluation activities. This position provides analysis that assists in problem solving, solution development, decision making, and strategic planning.

Duties of the Data Analyst also include:

  • Participating in database design, development, and implementation;
  • Designing queries which produce a variety of summaries and reports for diverse audiences including administrators, public health and health care delivery organizations, and community groups;
  • Consulting with AHI program staff and partners to develop an understanding of their data visualization needs and to design effective and creative ways to understand large, complex sets of data;
  • Creating visual representations and reports that present insights to support actionable decision making practices;
  • Responding to multiple demands in a fast-paced environment;
  • Working with the Information Services Department of AHI, supporting all AHI programs.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in health information management, statistics, accounting, actuarial science, mathematics, finance, public health, health administration, or other analytically-oriented health related field required. An advanced degree is preferred. Minimum two years of experience in health informatics, healthcare finance, health economics, actuarial/underwriting, or other related health data reporting and analytics role strongly preferred. Knowledge of population health management, community health, public health, value based payment concepts, the regional health care delivery system, and of health care reform strongly preferred.

Other Skills: Must have proficiency with commonly used database, spreadsheet, and word processing software (i.e. MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word) along with sufficient knowledge to select the appropriate information to be captured and reported. Must be detail oriented, have excellent analytical skills and strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data visualization and GIS tools is strongly preferred. Must be comfortable with a fast-paced environment and have a  demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines. Experience working with predictive models and healthcare quality metrics is highly desirable. Knowledge of community health assessment and population health indicators is highly desirable.

Other Requirements: Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and vehicle, or provide evidence of mobility within assigned community.
