Founded in 1899, Mount Ida College is a small, private college in Newton, Massachusetts, just minutes from Boston which provides career focused programs built upon a strong foundation in the social sciences, humanities and the arts, all developed and implemented to prepare our approximately 1,400 students for success in their chosen fields of endeavor.

The Director of the Mount Ida Career Center provides vision and leadership to a department of critical importance to the mission and strategic direction of the College. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs the office provides career exploration assistance, internship and post-graduation employment and graduate school resources to all undergraduate and graduate students in the schools of Business, Design, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Applied Sciences. The primary directive will be to build and enhance the relationships between the college and industry professionals and develop a robust employer relations program for all majors.

The Director actively engages alumni, parents, industry leaders, and employer representatives across all sectors of the marketplace as internship sponsors, prospective employers, and supporters of the Career Center’s mission. Additionally, the Director oversees and facilitates partnerships with internal constituents, including academic departments, athletics, alumni relations, and development.

 

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Five to seven years of experience in a college career services office, corporate recruitment setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Successful experience leading and supervising staff

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Understanding of contemporary best practices in the delivery of comprehensive career services.
2. Knowledge of job market trends, employer relations and recruitment methodologies.
3. Proven track record in developing and/or enhancing an employer relations program.
4. Demonstrated collaborative and relationship-building skills.
5. Excellent communication ability, including marketing, and public relations skills.
6. Strategic planning, leadership, and organizational skills.
7. Hands-on management experience.
8. Successful experience working with diverse populations.
