Facilities and Property Management (FPM) serves all members of the Portland State University (PSU) community. FPM takes a tremendous amount of pride providing an appealing campus environment in a professional and friendly fashion. The facilities and grounds at PSU consist of over 5 million square feet of facilities and approximately 50 acres of grounds and are the university’s largest asset. FPM is charged with the stewardship of this asset which contributes to attracting and retaining students, faculty and staff. The department staff works together as a dedicated team to create and maintain a superior and vibrant urban campus learning environment.
The Director of Facilities and Property Management (FPM) has campus wide responsibility for managing the physical assets of the University and for assuring that these assets are well maintained, functional and appropriately serve the campus community.
Facilities and Property Management is responsible for the operations and maintenance of all campus buildings and grounds, commercial lease administration, and facility related emergency response. The campus is located in downtown Portland and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Director is responsible for analyzing the condition of University assets and making recommendations for the allocation of resources, creating an environment where both reactive and preventative maintenance are deemed vital by all employees, and for ensuring that excellent customer service is paramount.

|Primary Activity||A - Administrative|
Ten years managing large teams in an operational environment; labor union experience preferred.
Five years managing multiple properties or facilities; higher education industry management experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business or related field, or 5 additional years of facility management experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Familiarity and a minimum five years of experience in the operation ofHVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing systems as well as in the installation and maintenance of exterior (including roofing and grounds) and interior finishes.
Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire others and ensure that most employees are highly engaged with their work.
Experience with the development and management of complex multi-million dollar operating budgets with minimum prior budgetary authority of at least $1 million preferred.
Experience and comfort with giving presentations to large groups of people and to senior management.
Excellent and effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite and high functioning abilities with Excel.
Possession of a valid State-issued driver’s license.
Successful completion of background check.
Master’s degree in related field preferred, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, or Civil/Environmental Engineering.
Experience managing contracted facility maintenance or custodial services.
Experience with facilities management software and scheduling programs.
Experience with Oregon and Portland building code and title three of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

|Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement||
The starting annual salary rate for this position will be between $105,000 and $115,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience, with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium-paid health care for employees and family members; significantly reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse, or dependent at any of the seven Oregon Public Universities (details and restrictions apply); and a generous vacation and retirement package.
