East Asian Studies, Assistant Professor

The Department of East Asian Studies at the University at Albany, State University of New York, seeks candidates for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in modern and contemporary Korean culture to begin Fall 2018.  The successful candidate is expected to teach five lower and upper division courses on pre-modern and modern Korea per year;  pursue an active program of research; and participate in service responsibilities, including undergraduate advising. 


Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with and instruct a culturally diverse population.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Preference will be given to candidates whose research demonstrates an ability to locate Korean culture within the broader context of other East Asian cultures, especially China and Japan.

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Assistant Professor; salary is competitive and commensurate with experience
