Electrical Engineering Design Lead

Position summary:

DPS Engineering is looking for a proven Electrical Engineer to work with our multiple world class advanced technology clients in the Albany, NY area. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to manage the ever-changing landscape of technology and how it's used world-wide. This individual will be responsible for working on large scale design projects from high density data centers to life sciences and nanotechnology manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will manage and direct junior staff, prepare proposals work with other Lead Engineers to develop designs, details, and specification standards, and mentor junior staff regarding technical development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Function as the Lead Electrical Engineer in the design and preparation of construction documents, while providing technical direction to engineers, designers and drafters assigned to specific projects
  • Client interaction including presentations at various stages of the project 
  • Ensure that Discipline QA reviews are being conducted and recorded per company policies
  • Provide upfront engineering services including studies and concept development
  • Design, develop and implement solutions for the microelectronics and other industrial facilities.
  • Produce and check complex 2D and 3D Design Drawings for high technology facilities in accordance with project requirements, codes, specifications and procedures
  • Responsible for coordination & multidiscipline clash checking including the resolving of issues using Navisworks. 
  • Provide design support during the construction phase of projects
  • Site surveys of existing services to ascertain “As built” conditions
  • Mentor junior staff regarding technical development.


Education & experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Semiconductor, life sciences and data center/mission critical facility experience preferred
  • NY State PE license desired
  • Previous experience on a number of BIM projects
  • Ability to integrate as part of a team to meet the Client Deliverables
  • Proven experience with progress reporting at all management levels

Essential skills:

  • Ability to create one-line diagrams and calculate connected load
