The Division of State Counsel, Litigation Bureau, Law Enforcement Group (LEG) is seeking a talented candidate for the position of Legal Support Analyst (LSA) for the New York City office.  The LSA will work closely with Assistant Attorneys General in the LEG to investigate and defend litigation against law enforcement agencies and officials, including the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the New York State Police, focusing on complex constitutional and statutory claims.

 LSAs serve a critical role in the LEG and perform both investigative and paralegal functions.  Specifically, LSAs are responsible for conducting investigative assignments such as drafting subpoenas, gathering, reviewing and analyzing documents, and searching commercial and law enforcement databases.  In addition, LSAs perform legal support tasks, such as preparing and processing motion papers and documents to be turned over during discovery, preparing demonstrative exhibits, and aiding Assistant Attorneys General in court proceedings, including at jury trials.  Please note that this is not an attorney position and LSAs do not typically conduct legal research.   This is a full-time position and we are seeking to fill the opening immediately.

 This is an entry-level position.  Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate by the time of appointment.  Strong organizational, time-management, writing, and verbal communication skills are also required.  The best-qualified candidates will exhibit a strong academic record and a demonstrated interest in law or law enforcement.
