Marketing & Outreach Program Coordinator - The RNA Institute

Job Description:

This is a full time, professional staff position directly supporting the work of the Senior Program Officer at The RNA Institute. The successful candidate will have immediate responsibility for coordinating all aspects of Institute research support programs (annual International Research Symposium, bi-annual Regional Research Mini-Symposium, Student Venture Fund Program, Research Travel Award Program, and Entrepreneurship Seminar Series), K-12 STEM Outreach events (RNA Day, Ask a Scientist, Protein Portraits), promotion and dissemination of research activities and productivity.  This position will be the liaison to the Institute's faculty committees, graduate students, and research staff to facilitate program coordination and implementation.  In addition, the successful candidate will assist with the development of the Institute's marketing and communication strategy and be responsible for its implementation.  

The responsibilities of the position include coordinating all aspects of Institute programs including, but not limited to, drafting and issuing program communications, liaison with faculty committees, and liaison with on and off campus offices to accomplish program goals and objectives. As such, the Marketing & Outreach Program Coordinator provides administrative support to communicate program objectives, announcements, deadlines, etc. to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.  The incumbent must be creative, detail oriented, adept at multi-tasking with the ability to prioritize, and be the feet on the ground scheduling meetings, following up with action items, dealing with the details of event planning that include booking travel, catering, parking, venues, accommodations, directions, etc.  


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • 3-5 years of administrative experience with increasing responsibility including project management experience
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in MS Office, website content management, and effective use of social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) to promote and disseminate information. 
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills and interpersonal skills
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate his/her ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with University policies and procedures, purchasing, and accounting a plus

Special Notes: This is a state funded 12-month calendar year position beginning August 2016 with the possibility of renewal dependent on success, progress, and availability of funding.
