MVP Information Services business unit is seeking a highly motivated – detail-oriented candidate for the position of Professional, Network Engineer. This position will be responsible for the physical construction of the enterprise network, whether it is for computer communications or telecommunications. This includes the placement of all the physical equipment such as routers, communication switches and all the cables and wires used to connect the equipment. The Network Engineer shall be skilled in voice, video, data and wireless architectures. The candidate should be an independent thinker with excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize multiple demands in an aggressive paced environment. The role includes but is not limited to the following: Responsible for communicating organizational information through regular team meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate written and interpersonal communication. Participate in all facets of requirements gathering, prioritization, development, testing and execution of requests. Build strong cross-organizational relationships; work collaboratively across the IT organization. Help identify, promote, and drive activities that will reduce technical debt. Support continuous process improvement and innovation. Assist in the overall implementation and support of MVP’s corporate enterprise network. Assemble, build and configure network hardware to pre-established design standards and complete associated documentation. Monitor day-to-day network performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages, participate in scheduled upgrades and collaborate with network architects on network optimization. Secure network systems by enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access. Support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations. and obtaining Cisco certifications. Report network operational status. Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases. Apply configurations to routing and switching equipment. Apply configuration of hosted IP voice services. Perform basic configuration of firewalls. Provide remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation. Provide remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation. Be responsible for system maintenance of network/internet/intranet hardware. Be expected to support customers daily. Act as a liaison between customer and vendor to solve software/hardware problems. Participate in the help desk environment regarding problem identification, logging and resolution. Provide education for customers regarding MVP’s network. Provide offsite support of remote customers. Assist in configuration and installation of all network peripherals. Limited travel between MVP offices, including overnight travel. Performs other related duties as assigned.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.

 

Minimum Experience:

5+ years’ work experience in related health care business or IT position.

3 + years’ experience with Cisco enterprise networking technologies.

 

Required Skills:

• Experience with Network Security Technologies.

• Demonstrate a solid multi-site Network Architecture and Engineering experience base.

• Demonstrate strong data networking experience with Cisco infrastructure (OTV, EIGRP, HSRP, STP, vlans, FCoE, port security, NAC, and ACS).

• Ability to perform technical analysis of hardware/ software/network system, LAN/WAN communications, and switching systems.

• Knowledge and ability to provide day to day support for data network infrastructure supporting voice, data video conferencing, unified communications and collaboration systems and customers.

• Demonstrated understanding how to plan, design and implement networked systems, including configurations, as well as the ability to support/ troubleshoot network problems.

• Possess strong personnel management skills.

• Possess the ability to effectively prioritize of tasks, projects, etc. in a dynamic environment.

• Possess strong analytical skills with knowledge of network and security software and tools.

• Keen attention to detail.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Interpersonal skills (e.g., partnering, conflict management, mentoring), with strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with most levels of business, technical and end users.

• Team oriented: Comfortable working in a team environment as well as independently and possess a sense of accountability and urgency in completing assignments.

• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, healthcare, or financial and billing processes is a plus.
