POLITICO New York is seeking a college student or recent graduate for a spring internship in its Albany bureau, working from the State Capitol. Our intern will be involved in all aspects of content creation and production. Intern duties include research, reporting, writing, editing and aggregating. The internship may include opportunities to travel within New York State.

Internship: January-June
Deadline: December 10

Pay: $15 per hour
Hours: Roughly 20 hours per week

Applicants should be political junkies with a can-do attitude. We want to see initiative, an ability to write quickly and cleanly and a thirst to learn about New York State politics and government.

Our interns are thrown a myriad of jobs, covering both the end of the legislative session, the ongoing operations of state agencies and campaigns for the House of Representatives, New York State Senate and Assembly. If you’re looking to gain experience as a campaign reporter, this is a unique opportunity.

We need folks who work well under pressure, have an excellent sense of time management and know how to navigate a newsroom. You’ll be writing, editing and fact-checking across all platforms.

We welcome applicants who are recent graduates. Applicants who are still in school must, at least, be rising juniors. The ideal applicant will have experience at a school publication and/or previous experience at a professional news outlet.

How to Apply
