As a part of the Data Governance team, this position is responsible for assisting in the implementation, promotion, and health of the Data Governance Program across the organization.

 

The Data Governance Architects provide a standardized common business vocabulary, express strategic data requirements, identify key data sources, outline high level integrated designs to meet those requirements, and align with enterprise strategy and business architecture.  This position is expected to act foremost in the data steward role, working closely with the business to identify the business owners for key data, particularly master and reference data sets.  In doing so, the individual chosen will seek out and learn business processes sufficient to understand, map and articulate the data flows and transformations within the enterprise, aligning those flows to the overall DG enterprise data model and to business needs. The individual will also work with other members of the DG team to ensure that the key data elements have clear definitions, meet established standards, and are modeled appropriately. The individual will also collaborate with database administrators to instantiate or verify physical representations of logical data models.

 

 

DG Architects provide customer support for Data Governance related questions when engaged through corporate processes or direct customer contact. 

DG Architects are expected to understand and be able to explain and to champion the value of data quality and data architecture principles, enterprise data models, key data entities, and the inventory of data needed to implement the architecture vision.  

Working with all levels of the organization, DG Architects collaborate and share knowledge and expertise with other members of the team and other professionals on various initiatives via work sessions, events, etc. They may participate in formal project planning and in agile planning sessions.

 

As with all members of the Data Governance team, the DG Architects actively promote a participative, inclusive work environment. They collaborate in drafting, deploying, and maintaining Data Governance related policies, procedures and guidelines. They mentor and coach to further a data driven culture. They generate new perspectives, challenge the status quo, and innovate to further program maturity. 

They assist with deploying master data, metadata, and data quality tools and content, as well as solutions to monitor use, progress, and compliance. They create, maintain, and deliver end-user training for Data Governance related tools and processes.

 

DG Architects also assist the head of Data Governance in the maintenance of the roadmap for Data Governance maturity. 

DG Architects maintain tool use proficiency and program best practices through independent study, vendor research, participation in professional organizations, attendance at conferences, and viewing webinars.

 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s Degree; directly related experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.

 

Minimum Experience:

Minimum 4years working experience with MS Access and/or SQL Server required. An understanding of the regulatory environment. Experience working with large data sets preferred with review/analysis of enrollment data.
