The Program Director for Recruiting is responsible for developing and maintaining employer and graduate school recruiting relationships. The Program Director for Recruiting will focus on building new models for connecting Carleton students with sought-after employers.

This position requires a great deal of creativity, ingenuity, and self-direction to envision and build relationships and pipelines to employers. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for managing Carleton’s participation in national and regional career-affiliated organizations. This staff member also serves as a career-counselor generalist, with expertise in the areas of business and finance.

  • Manage relationships with employers. Identify employers that are good fits for Carleton students and cultivate alumni, parents, and friends of the College who can help develop hiring relationships.
  • Develop and implement new models for building employment pipelines. Explore options and build processes for special programs, including Weitz Fellows.
  • Manage all campus recruiting, and work closely with Recruiting Program Coordinator to ensure high quality services and processes, and to accurately collect and report recruiting and hiring data.
  • Manage consortial job fair participation (Minnesota Private College Career Consortium, online fairs . ..)
  • Oversee creation and maintenance of office instructional materials/handouts and website. Ensure that all instructional materials and website are up-to-date, professionally presented, and accurate.
  • Serve as Carleton liaison to professional/consortia] groups including MPCCCMNACE, and MCUCSA.
  • Provide direct service/career guidance to students through workshops and individual appointments.
  • Manage programs related to business careers, including site visits to employers, skill-building workshops, and others.
  • Provide MBA advising.

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Career Center’s career counseling team. Assist with office-wide initiatives and programs.
  • Act as liaison to assigned academic departments.
  • Coordinate a small group of peer leaders to assist with recruiting functions.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • 5 years of experience in career development in a higher education setting; or background in HR/recruiting.
  • Experience managing and building relationships with employers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Proven ability to set and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background in career development and student development theory.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent career counseling skills.
  • Flexibility and capacity to conduct some evening and weekend programs and events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Creativity and proven ability to envision and implement new programs.
  • Background or experience in coaching students interested in finance and consulting careers.
