The Public Health Representative II will be part of a public health team that applies preventive and public health knowledge, techniques, and skills to reduce the incidence of communicable diseases within a 17 county area surrounding the Capital District. Based on data from disease reporting systems and surveillance of disease trends, the incumbent will conduct confidential investigations of persons suspected of being either the source, or known contact, of communicable STD and HIV cases.
The Public Health Representative II will also be required to perform venipuncture, conduct disease screening activities in the field, and incorporate evidence based interventions into face-to-face interactions and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :
A Bachelor's degree and one year of experience providing direct patient/client services in a health, human service or community-based organization, or institutional setting. This may include communicable disease, mental health, or alcohol/substance abuse counseling. School health offices are considered an institutional setting and health care providers, such as private physician’s offices are considered health care settings; AND/OR performing oversight activities in a health regulatory organization to determine compliance with appropriate laws, rules or regulations; AND/OR conducting epidemiological research including assisting in data collection, conducting patient interviews, abstracting medical records, participating in study design, and developing questionnaires and/or data analysis. Research must have involved the study of the incidence, spread, and/or control of communicable or chronic diseases. Laboratory bench research will not be considered qualifying; AND/OR performing responsibilities as a registered nurse. OR an Associate's degree and three years of such experience OR five years of such experience. A Master’s degree in a relevant field may substitute for one additional year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications :
At least two years health-related direct patient/person interaction; and field-based experience in outreach or other community service activity
Conditions of Employment :
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
