STATUS:   Full Time, Hourly

1.  Provides research information and support for a variety of station projects that impact revenue and ratings.  These responsibilities include:

  • Wide Orbit:  Creates and updates program estimates and projections in the Wide Orbit commercial traffic system, for all of our measured program streams.
  • Ratings:  Compiles and distributes Nielsen News & Station rankers, book breakouts and market guides as required.  Compiles and distributes Excel spreadsheets regularly from ComScore/Rentrak.  Sends spreadsheets to sales staff and GM.  Provides ComScore research that helps sell our stations effectively.
  • One Sheets:  Creates one sheets positioning our stations in the marketplace for general use and for client proposals.  Works with the Program Coordinator to create material for WNYT, WNYA, and MeTV for sales purposes.  Posts one sheets to HRP, our national rep. firm.  Updates and distributes proof of performance one sheets.  Maintains one sheet wall.
  • Updates research software when needed.
  • Compiles and distributes monthly web statistics.
  • Assists sales staff with miscellaneous projects, requests, events, specials, and meetings as needed.

2.  Works in a team environment cooperatively and collaboratively with a variety of people.  Corresponds with and works effectively with other sales support personnel to ensure high quality service.  Builds effective working relationships with co-workers, sales staff, customers, vendors and the general public.  Acts in a professional manner when representing the station.

3.  Attends necessary meetings.



Position Summary:  This position assists the VP/General Manager, the Director of Sales and the News Director in day-to-day functions of research as well as short and long-term projects.  Provides support services to members of the WNYT/WNYA-TV sales staff, at the direction of the Local Sales Manager.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Nielsen ratings preferred.
  • Previous experience working in TV, Radio or an ad agency is desirable.
  • Cooperative attitude, resourcefulness and a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong computer skills:  MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and ability to learn new programs as they emerge.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have valid driver's license and a safe driving history as determined by the Company.  Driving record will be checked.
  • College degree in Marketing, Statistics or related area of study, or equivalent work experience.


Ability to sit for extended periods of time.  Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.  Ability to read, hear and speak clearly.  Dexterity to manipulate computer keys and general office equipment, including multi-line telephone.  Requires the ability to think critically, analyze data, notice trends and to articulate information in a clear, concise manner to others.  Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  The Company will make reasonable accommodations to facilitate the ability to perform essential job functions.
