The Professional Development Program of the University at Albany's Rockefeller College seeks a service minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill two (2) Senior Education Specialist positions within PDP's Department of Computer Training Services.
Under the direction of the program manager or designee, translate technical information on off-the-shelf computer applications, such as Microsoft Office, as well as New York State (NYS) proprietary systems, into training materials and system documentation for end users. The Senior Education Specialist will also provide instructor-led classroom-based and virtual classroom training on off-the-shelf computer applications and NYS proprietary systems in state and local districts throughout NYS.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Designing, writing, and producing instructional materials, technical manuals, and job aids; developing training project plans and determining appropriate training methods; delivering training through various methods, including classroom in regional computer labs and using portable equipment at agency locations, and through virtual classroom technology; researching, evaluating, testing, and implementing other training technologies; understanding the training rollout process and being able to contribute to the development and/or review of evaluation instruments; assisting in the coordination of project activities, including customized training, technical assistance, and seminars; composing project plans and reports; and working closely with NYS staff as needed to implement project deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization, in education, management, information science, or related field. A minimum of three years related experience developing training curriculum/reference manuals/software documentation and/or providing statewide training for end users. Demonstrated ability to successfully work under pressure and attend to details, as well as effectively work on multiple projects with competing priorities/deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated proficiency with English language grammar/usage.Extensive knowledge of instructional design, computer networks, training and/or software, including Microsoft applications and operating systems.Experience researching/using distance learning technologies or developing distance learning materials. Experience translating complex business systems and concepts for diverse audiences and audiences that may include varying degrees of technical knowledge. Expertise in proofreading, editing, and formatting training materials. Ability to learn new software applications in a timely fashion. Variable work hours and travel throughout NYS (including areas that may not be served by public transportation) are required to gather information, test systems, or deliver training. Ability to lift and transport computer equipment (laptops, PCs, monitors, etc.) up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization, in education, management, information science, or related field. Strong background in technical writing and curriculum/training materials development. Proficiency with publishing tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher; authoring tools such as Lectora and Captivate; and graphic development tools such as Photoshop and Snagit. Experience working with state or local government agencies, setting up/working with wireless PC networks, and developing materials for online or computer-based training. Knowledge of the New York State child welfare system and CONNECTIONS computer application.
Salary Range: Low to mid $50's
