The Department of Sociology at the University at Albany, State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure track position to begin Fall 2018 at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  Candidates must have a primary area of specialization in Urban Sociology. Senior scholars must possess an established record of productive, externally funded research; junior scholars are expected to demonstrate the potential for excellence in research, including pursuit of external funding.  Successful candidates will also exhibit a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and service.

  • Ph.D. by September 1, 2018 from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization required by date of appointment
  • The area of specialization is Urban Sociology.
  • Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with and instruct a culturally diverse population.

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Assistant or Associate Professor, with competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Start Date: September 1, 2018
