The Special Events Coordinator will market conference services and College meeting facilities to local and national organizations. Duties include: creating marketing campaigns; assisting clients with conference planning; selecting, training and supervising summer staff; scheduling and coordinating room assignments; supervising room set ups; managing support services (a/v and meals); monitoring events; maintaining database and files; negotiating contracts; and handling departmental forecasting, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Requires an Associate's degree in hospitality management or business management (Bachelor's preferred), with 3-5 years of conference services/event management/planning experience. Must have demonstrated experience in business development and sales/marketing and proficiency in business software applications including: Microsoft Office, Visio, and 25Live scheduling software. The position also requires excellent customer service, organizational, verbal and written communication skills, initiative to work independently, flexibility to meet shifting work demands, safety consciousness and the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals. Working knowledge of sound, lighting and video systems a plus. Weekend and evening work is required, especially in summer months.
