Staff Development Specialist I

The Staff Development Specialist I will work in the Staff Development Unit to present and develop a broad range of in-person and online trainings. Those trainings include generic core competency courses and programs designed to meet agency-specific needs. This position will involve a significant amount of classroom instruction and development, extensive use of related technology as well as development of online learning using Lectora Authoring Software and the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS). It will also involve advanced use of computer software including PowerPoint, SharePoint and Camtasia to develop online curricula and materials. Finally, the incumbent will be expected to query databases and use Access and Excel to produce training reports for control agencies, as well as other duties as assigned. 



Minimum Qualifications: 
Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience in training, which may include developing course curricula and providing classroom instruction; OR an Associate’s degree and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
• Experience using authoring software to develop online learning 
• Experience conducting video conferencing and webinars, including the use of associated equipment such as computers, video projectors, smart boards, microphones, and cameras 
• A background in instructional design, education, and/or learning theory, with at least two years’ experience in course development in an online learning environment 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Knowledge and experience of stand-up training delivery 
• Experience in curriculum development for adult learners 
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point and other related applications 
• Knowledge of centralized databases such as learning management systems 
• Proficient at project management, meeting deadlines and successfully executing assigned tasks 
• Strong problem solving and leadership skills 
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and maximize limited resources 
• Ability to interact with personnel at all levels in the organization
