The Statistical Data Analyst will serve as a senior analyst within the Office of Quality and Patient Safety, Division of Information and Statistics, Outcomes Research Unit on data systems development and management, data analysis, and quality improvement for the awarded Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Program grant ("Coverdell grant"). The federally-funded Coverdell grant will work to develop comprehensive stroke systems to find ways to reduce mortality, hospital readmission, and long term disabilities resulting from stroke. This position will report to the Director of the Outcomes Research Unit within the Bureau of Health Care Analytics and will work closely with in-kind grant contributors, internal and external stakeholder guidance team members, and the NYSDOH grant implementation team on all grant-associated data and analytics. Specific duties include: work closely with the unit manager to ensure completion of all Coverdell grant deliverables related to data systems development and management, data analysis, and quality improvement coordination; analyze and use data to improve care and patient outcomes; perform data management, analysis, and quality improvement coordination activities in support of the Stroke Designation Program; and prepare presentations and statistical reports of data and analytical findings.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field and three years of statistical analysis experience and/or equivalent experience developing statistical programs, OR a Master’s degree in the appropriate field and two years of such experience, OR a Doctorate in the appropriate field. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and risk adjustment methodologies. Experience in health care research and analysis in support of quality measurement and improvement, formulation of research questions, and application of advanced statistical methods for predictive analytics. Strong background and professional experience with big data management and data linking methodologies. Demonstrated ability to use advanced SAS and/or SQL tools for data management, statistical analysis and visualizations. Experience with Tableau reporting. Experience with preparation of statistical reports for public presentation. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, written and oral communication skills. Experience supervising staff.
