JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of non-clinical Pharmacy personnel, including Pharmacy Specialists, to maintain efficient workflow. Ensures pharmacy regulatory timeframes are met for all lines of business. Conducts routine meetings, including one-on-one and group meetings, to facilitate supervisory needs. Interacts with other departments and vendors as needed to promote uniform unified customer service. Monitors the work performance of direct reports, ensuring timely completion of staff’s performance evaluations. Develops staff through a defined documented process and provides necessary guidance and expertise on complex department issues. Works with Pharmacy Training Coordinator to ensure direct reports are fully trained. Proactive in identifying areas for efficiency improvement; consistently challenges the status quo in favor of incremental improvement opportunities that could be achieved through new methods. Aggressively pursues the continuous improvement of existing workflow and process development. Responsible for monitoring and providing necessary information, updates and reports for monthly performance statistics to assure achievement of all performance metrics on a consistent basis; communicates with Pharmacy Management. Ensures all questions and concerns involving Pharmacy, as well as internal and external customers, are handled in a timely and accurate manner. Works with Pharmacy Compliance Coordinator to ensure and monitor compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Participates in department initiatives, projects and meetings, as assigned. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to regulatory compliance issues as they exist and change from time to time. Performs other related duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: 

Bachelor’s degree and directly related experience preferred.

 

Minimum Experience:
Evidence of progressive supervisory/leadership experience demonstrating successful supervisory relationships.

 

Required Skills:
• Knowledge of and experience in health insurance operations, knowledge of pharmacy programs preferred.

• Knowledge of and experience in supervisory skills facilitating collaborative leadership.

• Self-motivated and operates with a sense of urgency; acts with the customer/member in mind at all times.

• An understanding of the regulatory environment.

• Superior written and oral communication skills sufficient to interact effectively and productively with staff, external customers, consultants and vendors.

• Ability to be flexible and adjust appropriately to frequent change.
