Location: Special Education – Steinmetz
Basic Function: To manage academic, social and emotional needs of children with disabilities in various Special Education programs.
Responsibilities: Assessment, curriculum development (IEP) instruction and evaluation of students with disabilities. This teaching position requires deep knowledge of behavior management and trauma informed instruction, as well as literacy, math and instructional skills concomitant to the Common Core Learning Standards. The students are upper elementary age and present with severe behaviors. TCIS training and specific literacy knowledge, as well as strong classroom management skills are preferred.
Starting Date: December 5, 2016 There is a preferred eligible list from which we must exhaust before hiring an external candidate.
Starting Salary: Dependent upon step of current contract. The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
A. Certification and experience in Special Education.
B. Teaching experience with students who have a variety of disabilities.
