Technical Sourcing Specialist

Job Title:                                Technical Sourcing Specialist                                                                                                  

Department:                        Purchasing

Reports To:                           Director of Supply Chain Management

Direct Reports:                    None

Purpose:                                Significantly contributes to the sourcing activity as it relates to product material requirements (supplier selection, quality, procurement, cost, performance evaluation, and CI).          

Core Responsibilities:

  • Drives supplier participation in cost-out and CI, soliciting cost cutting proposals from supply chain and educating suppliers. Help incorporate cost cutting proposals.
  • Develops alternative sources of supply for purchased materials to ensure that unit prices are globally cost, quality, and delivery competitive.
  • Makes sure that sufficient production capacity is available within the supply chain to sustain E/One's growth projections.
  • Investigates new technology and work as liaison between providers and E/One engineering.
  • Negotiates with suppliers to secure cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Ensures competitive costs for materials to sustain E/One's financial and production objectives, executes purchase orders, and interacts with suppliers to insure that required materials delivery due dates are achieved.
  • Assists in developing and implementing strategies to drive productivity, improve product quality, and ensure supply chain continuity.
  • Resolve quality, delivery, and pricing issues and follow-up up with appropriate documentation to ensure uninterrupted supply materials.
  • Searches for sources of required material.  Gathers supplier candidate information, conducts supplier qualification, and negotiates costs.
  • Works closely with management and internal departments to ensure supplier requirements are viable and relevant.
  • Drives toward uninterrupted supply chain.
  • Develops strategic alliances with suppliers and purchases material to ensure continuous flow of material to support customer requirements.
  • Drives key initiatives for cost-out, on-time delivery, affordable quality and continuous improvement.
  • Continuously monitor supplier performance to understand where improvements must occur.
  • Monitors tool condition to minimize downtime.
  • Communicates effectively with both supplier and internal Customers.  Aligns actions with internal Customers.
  • Keeps Company informed of changes/trends in suppliers, materials, regions and freight.
  • Schedules time and trips to best utilize resources.  Works with management to ensure that his/her presence is most effective.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related Engineering discipline or technical ability.
  • Knowledge of "Lean" and "Six Sigma" is strongly preferred
  • At least 3 years sourcing experience in mechanical and/or electronic products.
  • Technically oriented to comprehend, translate and communicate product requirements.
  • Demonstrates excellent negotiation skills.

Desired Characteristics:

  • International supply chain experience helpful
  • A Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.
