The incumbent will assist principal investigators and other subject matter experts in the production of technical and complex written and graphic content for highly competitive sponsored funding proposals. Specific duties will include: collaborating with researchers and managing multiple funding proposals; ensuring the delivery of content within specified time frames; gathering, researching, interpreting, and refining complex scientific information so that it is clear and concise; organizing and composing content in specified formats, ensuring the material flows logically and is properly referenced and annotated; translating ideas and concepts into innovative, engaging, research proposals that are both compelling and relatable to prospective sponsors; and creating, reviewing, and/or editing draft proposals provided by researchers, including executive summaries, abstracts, specific aims, narratives and other required application sections. Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of scientific and technical writing experience or an Associate’s degree in a related field and six years of scientific and technical writing experience or eight years of scientific and technical writing experience. A Master’s degree in a related area may substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications :
Masters of Science degree. Experience in writing, editing and proofreading proposals in either a nonprofit, or academic environment, or for a science, technology or health publication. Experience with proposals written for federal sponsors, nonfederal sponsors, foundations, or endowments. Experience writing about complex scientific concepts. Familiarity with health and life sciences databases. Experience with graphics, database programs, web, and desktop tools. Knowledge of grant proposal requirements for federal sponsors of scientific research. Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
