Job Description:

The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany's Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill a Training Program Coordinator position within PDP's Department of Temporary Assistance Training in Albany, NY.

Description of Duties:

Under direction of the Department Manager, position oversees and directs project activities of professional adult education and training, curriculum development, and instructional design project teams, as well as serves as an instructional design, curriculum development/writing, and training specialist and liaison to project sponsors and other stakeholders to meet contract deliverables in support of current NYS policy initiatives. Duties include, but are not limited to: Coordinating and implementing a variety of traditional and non-traditional adult education and training curricula and programs, including classroom training, e-learning, and self-paced educational and performance support materials; Coordinating individual and team project activities, including making training and development assignments, monitoring activities, and providing coaching and mentoring as needed; Assuring quality of all educational, training, and written materials and conformance with project objectives; Supervising and evaluating project staff; Using a performance-based instructional design and training model (e.g., ADDIE/ISD) to design, develop/write, and revise training programs and related materials; Developing, reviewing, and preparing curricula, training materials, needs assessment and program evaluation tools, correspondence, reports, proposals, and project-related documents; Serving as a Master Trainer and conducting training using classroom and e-learning methodologies at the project sponsor's request or as necessary; Serving as liaison to project sponsors, trainees, and other stakeholders; Maintaining records, including project management, instructional design, and training implementation plans.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Adult Education, English, Communications, or related field and minimum 5 years of experience designing/developing adult training curriculum and implementing adult training programs in traditional and non-traditional settings, OR Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Adult Education, English, Communications, or related field and minimum 3 years of experience designing/developing adult training curriculum and implementing adult training programs in traditional and non-traditional settings.
  2. Two years of experience supervising staff and coaching, motivating, and developing skills of staff.
  3. Excellent writing, speaking, training, and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Thorough knowledge of adult learning principles, traditional and non-traditional adult training methods, and instructional design and development methods.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency using a performance-based instructional design and training model (e.g., ADDIE/ISD) to design, develop, and implement training programs.
  6. Demonstrated ability to prepare curricula, reports, proposals, and project management, instructional design, and training implementation plans in conformance with project objectives
  7. Demonstrated ability to effectively write, critique, as well as instruct staff on developing written products.
  8. Demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and develop subject matter expertise with state policy, regulation, or law or material of a complex and technical nature.
  9. Working knowledge of the NYS social service delivery system and public welfare programs or experience in the delivery of specific public welfare programs, such as Temporary Assistance, SNAP, Employment & Advancement Services, and HEAP, or experience with the administrative/fair hearings process, welfare fraud investigations, and audit/quality improvement initiatives.
  10. Strong team and customer orientation.
  11. Strong attention to detail.
  12. Demonstrated ability to successfully work under pressure as well as effectively manage multiple tasks and work on multiple projects with competing priorities/deadlines in shared staff resource setting.
  13. Demonstrated proficiencies using Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Explorer or Edge, and document and presentation templates.
  14. Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.
  15. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  16. Ability to work variable days and work hours and travel regularly throughout NYS to deliver training and attend programs and meetings, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Adult Education, English, Communications, or related field.
  2. Additional experience in staff supervision, instructional design, and training project management.
  3. Proficiencies using Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, and Access, and e-learning technology (e.g., iLinc, GoToWebinar, Lectora)
  4. Experience delivering training to adults.
  5. Experience working within a state or county social services agency or human services organization

Additional Information:

Salary Range:  Up to $70,000
