Location: Educational Support Services – (Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Support Center)
Basic Function: The Bilingual Special Education Training Specialist provides information, training and technical assistance on the referral, assessment, and provision of instruction to culturally and linguistically diverse students with disabilities, with the goal of increasing the implementation of research‐based effective practices and improving outcomes for students with disabilities. The specialist’s work is driven by a regional work plan developed in collaboration with the RSE‐TASC Coordinator and SED.
Responsibilities: The RSE‐TASC Bilingual Special Education Specialist provides information, training and technical assistance on the referral, assessment, and provision of instruction to culturally and linguistically diverse students with suspected and/or identified disabilities, consistent with NYS guidelines and research‐based effective practices through regional professional development and embedded work in selected districts/schools, per a regional work plan. The specialist participates in workgroups to develop and revise training modules and resources and works collaboratively with other RSE-TASC training specialists on regional and program-specific professional development projects, as assigned, across the 7-BOCES region. Travel within the region and flexibility with regard to daily schedule are expected.
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Starting Salary: $43,683-$72,218 based on experience and qualifications. The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
Minimum qualifications (Must have all 4):
Master’s degree in special education, psychology, school psychology, reading or speech and language or Bachelor’s degree in special education, psychology, school psychology, reading or speech and language and a Master’s degree in education;
NYS certification in special education, speech and language disabilities, school psychology or reading;
NYS bilingual education extension or certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages;
Three years direct teaching or related service experience with students with disabilities.

Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate.
