Basic Function: To work directly with schools to provide training, coaching, technical assistance and resources in order to establish high quality, research-based practices in the areas of literacy, behavioral supports and specially designed instruction for students with disabilities.
Responsibilities: Engages with schools identified in the regional work plan to analyze outcomes of students with disabilities and identify aligned instructional and systems change need areas. Provide professional development, coaching, technical assistance and resources to collaboratively implement an improvement plan to address the identified needs. Collects data to demonstrate the implementation and outcomes of the work. Participates in workgroups to develop and revise training modules and resources and works collaboratively with other RSE-TASC training specialists on professional development projects as assigned. Travel within the Capital Region, and potential beyond, and flexibility with regard to daily schedule are expected.
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Starting Salary: $43,683 – $58,677 based on experience and qualifications. The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
Master’s degree in special education, psychology, school psychology, reading or speech and language, or Bachelor’s degree in special education, psychology, school psychology, reading or speech and language and a Master’s degree in education and/or educational administration;
NYS Certification in special education, school psychology, sppech and language, reading, school administration or related area;
Five years direct teaching or related service experience with students with disabilities at the elementary or secondary level in a classroom setting.
Experience in data-driven school improvement and the provision of professional development, coaching and technical assistance, particularly in the areas of literacy and behavioral supports.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate.
