Urban Teacher Residency:  Recruiting and Supporting Teachers of Color

Join New Visions for Public Schools’ Teacher Certification team and an expert panel of current teachers and school leaders of color, as we explore some of the critical issues impacting the retention of teachers of color in New York City. Our panelists will discuss the importance of and challenges faced by teachers of color in New York City Schools. They will share their own experiences and obstacles that they have faced in the teaching profession and offer advice/insight to people of color who are considering a career in education. The panel will include experts in various roles in the teaching field from classroom teachers to principal and clinical professors. Join us to learn how teachers of color can enter the education profession with the tools and resources to have a long and fulfilling career as a teacher. Refreshments will be provided.
