DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Web Developer reports to the Lead Web Developer and performs the following duties:

• Provides configuration and testing of college-adopted and college-developed web applications and web site software in a large served environment to address the needs and requirements of students, faculty and staff.

• Provides programming functions for college-adopted and college-developed web applications and web site software in a large served environment to address the needs and requirements of students, faculty and staff.

• Provides maintenance support and administration for college-adopted and college-developed web applications and web site software in a large served environment to address the needs and requirements of students, faculty and staff.

• Provides consultative support, technical support and technical solutions for web applications, web site and database software issues, to fellow staff.

• Provides database administration and technical solutions (design, implementation, data integrity and disaster recovery) related to web services and support of the web infrastructure for a variety of database platforms as necessary including but not limited to Microsoft Access, MSSQL, MySQL and Oracle databases.

• Works collaboratively with fellow staff for maintenance, problem resolution and upgrade of college adopted and college developed web applications, web site and web site database software.

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skills with current web applications, web site and web site database software technologies.

• Performs related duties as assigned by the Lead Web Developer.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field OR Associates degree in Computer Science or related field and one (1) year experience in web application and website support OR Web Programming Certificate and two (2) years experience in web application and web site support OR four (4) years experience in web application and web site support.

Proven experience with design, development and support of web sites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery) and PHP. Knowledge and experience with cross-browser and cross-platform testing. Familiarity with command line and UNIX-based web hosting. Demonstrable ability to communicate and work effectively with a team to implement web applications and web sites. Very good oral and written communication skills. Ability to learn new technologies and software as necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with web integration and administration of backend databases such as MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, Proficient with Adobe Creative Suit, including Photoshop. Experience work with Apple operating systems. Experience working with administrators, faculty and staff in a secondary or post-secondary environment.
