Merit Aid

Need-Based Aid

The following documents are due in the Financial Aid Office by April 17, 2017

  •  2017-2018 CSS Profile - Union's Profile school code is 2920 (To be considered for institutional need-based grant)
  • CSS Non-Custodial Parent Profile (if applicable)
  • 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – Union's FAFSA school code is 002889 (To determine federal financial aid)
  • Verification Worksheet - Dependent Worksheet or Independent Worksheet (depending on your status)
  • Parents' 2015 Tax information (FAFSA IRS Data Retrieval Tool or IRS Tax Return Transcripts. For specific guidance related to submission of tax information please review our detailed instructions.)
  • Student's 2015 Tax information (FAFSA IRS Data Retrieval Tool or IRS Tax Return Transcripts)
  • Parents' 2015 W-2 forms
  • Student's 2015 W-2 form(s)
  • NYS Express Tap Application (ETA). NY Residents will be linked directly to the ETA as a result of completing a 2017-2018 FAFSA. Union's TAP code is 0990. You can also go directly to New York State Higher Education Services Corporation to apply for TAP.
  • Parents' 2015 NYS Tax Return (for NY State residents).
  • Work Study Application must be completed annually to continue participation in the program

For families who have experienced a change in circumstances, you may submit the 2017-2018 Change in Family Circumstances Form.

Returning Canadian Students

  • Parents' 2015 T-1 General Income and Benefit returns or Notice of Assessment

  • Student's 2015 T-1 General Income and Benefit returns, if applicable
  • Student's 2015 T-4 forms, if applicable
  • Quebec Residents - Parent and, if applicable, student 2015 Quebec Income Tax Returns

Returning International Students

  • Eligibility limited to those students awarded merit awards prior to their enrollment at Union College

Need-Based Aid

  • Deadline: April 17, 2017
  • International students must complete the CSS profile
  • Student Employment Application must be completed in order for students to be considered for Work Study
  • 2015 foreign income documentation (translated into US dollars).  Examples of income documentation are:
    1. The country's tax return, or
    2. Signed statement from your parent's employer(s) on the company's letterhead indicating annual wages, bonuses, benefits, subsidies, or perquisites.  The statement should indicate if the income is gross income (before taxes) in which case we need to know the taxes paid.
