Assistant Controller - Financial Services 7320

As a senior member of the Controller’s Office, the Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the Financial Services department which includes Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cashier, Bursar and general accounting. Responsibilities include ensuring that core financial processes and internal controls are maintained, performing special analyses, promoting the highest standards of customer service, supervising the Financial Services staff, working closely with the Financial Systems Analyst to create/streamline financial reports, and working collaboratively with the Controller, Assistant Controller-Financial Reporting and Budgets, the Director of Budgets and Risk Management, and various College departments.


The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field (CPA and/or MBA desirable), and 5+ years of progressively increasing responsibility, including accounting and managerial experience, with higher education or other not-for-profit experience preferred. Candidates must have strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and technological skills, a demonstrated commitment to open collaboration and customer service, strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to manage stress and work under pressure while multitasking under deadlines, an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Experience working with accounting standards for colleges and not-for-profits and federal awards/contracts is highly desirable. Must be safety conscious with a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
