Summary:

Union College, a liberal arts institution located in Schenectady, New York is accepting applications for the position of Sports Information Assistant/Fraternity and Sorority Life Assistant with the department of Athletics and Fraternity/Sorority Life Office. The College is committed to excellence in academics and athletics, diversity and a well-balanced, broad based intercollegiate athletics program dedicated to the concept of the student-athlete. Union is an NCAA multi-classified institution that sponsors 26 intercollegiate sports. Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey compete in Division I ECAC Hockey, and 24 sports compete in the Division III Liberty League.

This position will assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information and a full time Sports Information Assistant. This position will also provide support to Union’s fraternity and sorority chapters to further the success and development of the Union College Greek community.  Duties for Sports Information include event coverage, website management, sport assignments, media guides, live video setup and archiving, game notes, social media, photo image and publication design, and student worker supervision. Reporting to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, duties for Fraternity and Sorority Life include advising assigned chapters, oversight of social events to ensure compliance with Greek Life policies, and assisting in the new member education process.

The position is expected to devote 20 hours per week to Sports Information and 5 hours per week to Fraternity and Sorority Life. Compensation will include an hourly pay rate of $10.57 per hour plus college housing (valued at $6,723 per year), and a student meal plan (valued at $5,538 per year).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, collegiate sports information department experience, knowledge of Stat Crew software, experience in publication software (Adobe InDesign and Photoshop), new media, video, and an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations is required. Candidates must be able to work with a diverse group of students, have strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills, and be available to work evenings and weekends. Membership in a fraternity or sorority is desired.
