Summary:

The post-doc will be an active participant in a project aimed at determining the closure temperature of key isotopic systems in iron meteorites (funded by NASA’s Emerging Worlds program). The post-doc will help design and conduct the majority of the experiments, analytical measurements, and numerical modeling, help in training and working with undergraduate research students in the lab, will be the lead/senior author on manuscripts that result from the bulk of the work he or she performs, will help Prof. Watson develop key laboratory capabilities at Union College including a high pressure piston cylinder apparatus and a controlled atmosphere high temperature furnace. The post doc will have access to similar experimental labs at RPI while the facilities at Union College are under development. This position is a 2 yr grant funded position (with possibility of extension).

Qualifications:

This position requires a Ph.D. in a related field, at the time of the hire, plus experience in high pressure/high temperature laboratory techniques.
