Courtney Seymour became Schaffer Library’s Head of Research Services/Collaboration, Outreach, and Initiatives Librarian in July 2014. In addition to serving as one of the primary reference and instruction professionals, her roles include: building connections and establishing strong partnerships with other campus units, finding effective ways to promote library services and resources, and generally supporting undergraduate teaching, learning, and growth.

Courtney joined the Union College community in 1994 as a First Year student, and started her career at Schaffer Library in the Reference Department in 2001. She served in additional Public Services roles through 2004. In 2005 she took the position of Head of Collection Development and spent seven years managing print and electronic resources in the library. Her interest in working more closely with the students, faculty, and staff of her alma mater led to her decision to return to Public Services. She assumed the role of Collaboration, Outreach, and Initiatives Librarian in August 2012, and seeks to further this commitment to library users as unit coordinator of the new Research Services Department.

Courtney lives in Clifton Park with her sons, Stuart, Eben, and Theodore.
