MAJOR: Political Science
His first term on campus, Brian Huang became a student rep in his Minerva House. He quickly found himself at home in the program.
“The Minervas offer a great way to be involved in programming and have social options outside of the classroom,” says Brian, who now serves as coordinator of Breazzano House. “I get the chance to interact closely with students in all grades and majors.”
The seven Minervas host hundreds of events each year, bringing together students and faculty for social, academic and cultural activities.
“You can plan events in your Minerva from day one,” Brian says. “Any student can take an idea and run with it.” In Breazzano, he has helped organize Chinese New Year celebrations and finals week relaxation sessions.
Beyond the Minervas and his studies, Brian keeps busy as a midshipman in Union’s Navy ROTC program and served as sophomore class president. As a member of the Student Affairs Council, he reviews Union policy on everything from dining services to safety.
“I love that I get to represent the opinions of my peers,” he says. “I’m able to work with the administration and other student leaders to make our campus the best it can be. In a small school setting like ours, your voice can truly be heard.”
