Union professor's research on conspiracy theories featured in media outlets

The COVID-19 pandemic has renewed national media interest in research by Josh Hart, associate professor of psychology, which suggests that people with certain personality traits and cognitive styles are more likely to believe in conspiracy theories.

Discover and Men’s Health magazines highlighted the research, published in September 2018 in the Journal of Individual Differences.

A story on the research first appeared on Union’s news site and has been featured in a number of national and international media outlets.

Hart joined Union in 2007.

Union College student curates anti-war exhibit

Savannah Jelks '20 curated an exhibit for Schaffer Library, "Hell No, We Won't Go! The Power of Campus Protests (1965-1975)." A history major, Jelks focused on the May 1, 1970, demonstration on campus that moved into downtown Schenectady.

Due to the campus lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibit can be viewed online.

The Daily Gazette featured an article on the exhibit (a subscription may be required).

Union's historic gift attracts media attention

A $51 million gift from Class of 1980 graduates Rich and Mary Templeton will transform engineering and the liberal arts at Union College with the creation of the Templeton Institute for Engineering and Computer Science, President David R. Harris announced Friday.

It is the largest gift in Union’s 225-year history and among the biggest for engineering at a liberal arts school in the last decade.

Harris made the announcement in Memorial Fieldhouse during the public launch of Union’s new $300 million comprehensive campaign, “Powering Union: The Campaign for Multiple Tomorrows.”

Union featured in MONEY's 75 schools that meet full financial aid

MONEY magazine recently posted an article offering consumers a primer on financial aid at colleges. The piece features extensive comments on how the process works from Matt Malatesta ‘91, vice president for Admissions, Financial Aid and Enrollment.

The article also lists 75 schools that promise to meet full financial aid for students, including Union.
