Move-In Information for First-Year/Transfer Students

Welcome Home Class of 2028!

We are so excited to welcome you to campus, and can't wait for you to start your residential U Journey. As you begin to think about moving into your new community, we encourage you to review the following move-in dates:

  • First-Year class and all transfer students arrive on September 1st 2024
  • First-Year and transfer students participating in Pre-Orientation Programming - August 29th, 2024
  • First-Year International Student move-in - August 28th, 2024 - August 29th, 2024

Although we can't wait to have you on campus, we are unable to permit any early individual move-ins outside of the above scheduled dates. If a student is permitted to move in earlier than the above dates due to affiliation with a specific program, that information will be communicated to them directly via their Union College email.

Signing Up For Your Arrival Time

Students will be permitted to sign up for an arrival window on their pre-scheduled date of arrival. Move-in time slot sign ups will be visible in a student's housing portal after room assignments have been determined for the 2024-2025 academic year. Student housing assignments will be available on the housing portal in early August 2024.

Arrival times will be staggered to reduce congestion and aid in a smooth move-in experience for all. Please plan to arrive on campus during your selected arrival window.

Things to Know for Move-In Day:

When arriving on campus during your scheduled move-in time, all first-year and transfer students will report to their assigned buildings.

At check-in, students will receive their room key, and photo ID (if a photo is submitted ahead of time). Check-in will be broken up into several moving parts. We ask that all members of each family remain in their cars at their check-in location. While the student proceeds through our check-in process, receiving their key and ID, the other family members, along with the help of student volunteers, will empty their vehicle and send the belongings to their assigned room. All students will be able to park near their residence halls to unload their vehicles and must eventually move all empty vehicles to our designated move-in parking locations. Members of our team will be on-site to assist with directions to these parking locations.

Orientation Assistants (OAs) and Community Advisors (CAs) will be on hand to assist with the move-in process. We encourage you to label all of your belongings with your name, building, and room number to ensure a smooth transition. You are welcome to bring family members or friends to assist you with your move.
