GETTING TO KNOW UNION

OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION

Last updated August 2025

Union College will be hosting an overnight college preview event for high-achieving students from diverse backgrounds. This event is designed to allow students to learn more about our academic offerings; give them an authentic view of what life can be like at Union; and provide opportunities to engage with current students, faculty and college leaders.

Because we understand that traveling may pose a significant financial burden for many families, the College will provide transportation and campus meals for all students in attendance.

See below for application requirements and additional details.

FAQ:

  • What can I expect at GTKU?

This overnight program, in conjunction with our Fall Open House, provides the opportunity to truly experience Union. You’ll attend info sessions and tour campus. You’ll meet with students, faculty and staff. You'll see what it’s like to live and learn as a Union student. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, take photos and collect contacts! Our community is eager to meet you and help you better understand Union.

  • How will I get to campus?

We’re fortunate to have convenient bus and train stations in our area. We’ll purchase your round-trip tickets, and a Union College representative will provide transportation between the station and campus when you arrive and depart.

  • Who is going to host me during my visit and where will I stay?

You’ll be hosted on campus by a current Union student! This is a great opportunity for you to get to know Union up close through the eyes of someone who lives and learns within the community. Please note, since you will be rooming with a current student, beds are limited and you may need to sleep on the floor or a couch. Be prepared for a sleepover-like experience!

  • Will meals be provided during my visit?

Yes, we will provide meal vouchers for our dining hall and meals during the Open House events. We’ll also send you home with a meal to eat on the train/bus. Be sure to let us know any dietary restrictions on your application!

  • What should I pack?

Participants should plan to bring the following items: Sleeping bag or blanket, pillow, towel, toiletries, comfortable walking shoes, sweatshirt/jacket, water bottle, chargers, homework/book (there may be down time). There is free, reliable wi-fi on campus.
