We encourage an interview as part of the application process. An interview enhances your application by showing your interest in Union and allowing us to hear more about your academic and extracurricular pursuits. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and to hear about the exciting experiences that await you at Union College.

Interview Deadlines

Interviews with the Office of Admissions are available for high school seniors through January, but should be completed by the following deadlines:

November 15: Early Decision I, Leadership in Medicine
January 31: Early Decision II, Regular Decision

Transfer students may complete an interview by the following deadlines:

November 15: Winter Transfer
January 31: Spring Transfer
April 30: Fall Transfer (priority deadline)

Online via Zoom:
- Tuesdays and Thursdays, June-August
- Weekdays, September-January
- Registration is available up to 48 hours in advance, beginning May 1.
In person on Union's campus:
- Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, June-August
- Select Saturdays, September-November
- Registration is available up to 48 hours in advance, beginning May 1.

Alumni interview:
- Opportunities to interview with an alumni volunteer may be available. If you're interested in this option, please submit our Alumni Interview Request form and we'll follow up with you.
- Alumni interview requests may be submitted any time between September 1 and February 15.
- To count as demonstrated interest in your application, your interview request must be submitted by November 15 for Early Decision I, January 15 for Early Decision II or February 15 for Regular Decision.

Interviews for International Applicants

Interviews allow us to learn more about you and how you will contribute to our campus, which can play an important role in the final admissions decision.

We ask that international students submit their application before requesting an interview.

The following options are available: InitialView, Vericant or interview with a Union College staff member.

Looking for a different option to tell us about yourself?

Applicants are welcome to send a Glimpse video via the InitialView platform. Glimpse is an opportunity to create and share a 60-90 second video that helps us get to know you better. This option is only available for U.S. students attending U.S. high schools. For consideration in Union's admissions process, Glimpse videos must be submitted by Nov. 15 for Early Decision I and Jan. 31 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision.

We also accept full interviews completed through InitialView or Vericant. For consideration in the admissions process, InitialView and Vericant interviews are due to Union by Nov. 15 for Early Decision I and Jan. 31 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision.

How do I request an alumni interview?

You can submit an Alumni Interview Request anytime between September 1 and February 15. To count as demonstrated interest on your application, please make sure your request is submitted by November 15 for Early Decision I, January 15 for Early Decision II, or February 15 for Regular Decision.
Can U.S. high school students submit a short video instead of a traditional interview?

Yes. U.S. high school students can share a 60–90 second Glimpse video via InitialView to give us a quick, personal window into who you are. Videos must be submitted by November 15 for Early Decision I or January 31 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision.
What can I expect during my interview?
At Union, we view the interview as a collaborative, two-way conversation. It's a key part of our application process that allows us to get to know you as a complete person beyond your grades and test scores.

- Share Your Personal Story: Use this time to highlight your academic passions, unique hobbies, leadership roles, and extracurricular pursuits that might not fully come across on paper.
- Ask Your Questions: This is your time to interview us, too! Ask about campus culture, research opportunities, housing, or student life to discover if Union is the right fit for you.
Does the interview format I choose affect my chances of admission?

No. Whether you meet with us online via Zoom, visit Grant Hall for an in-person conversation or connect virtually with a Union alum, every interview format carries equal weight in our evaluation process. Choose whichever option best fits your schedule and comfort level.
How do interviews work for international students?

International applicants are required to submit their application to Union College before requesting an interview. Once your application is submitted, you can complete an interview through InitialView, Vericant, or directly with a Union College staff member.
