Lewis Davis, professor of economics, was recently featured on WAMC's "The Academic Minute."

The daily program features professors from colleges and universities around the world sharing their research. It airs on public radio stations across the country.

Davis examines whether individualistic societies are richer or poorer than collectivist ones.

Tomas Dvorak, chair of the Economics Department, wrote an op-ed on college retirement plans that was published in The Chronicle of Higher Education. His research interests are in the design of retirement plans, performance measurement, financial literacy and conflicts of interest in financial markets. His work has been published in top academic journals including the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Finance, the B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis & Policy and the Journal of Retirement.

He recently published a study in the Journal of Pension Economics and Finance, "Do 401K plan advisors take their own advice?"

Dvorak also serves as a fiduciary of Union College’s defined contribution retirement plan.

Actor James Franco visited campus recently to shoot scenes for an upcoming movie. A number of Union students were extras for the scenes and film study students helped wit the shoot.
