Nation Library Week: Find Your Joy!

National Library Week 2026
April 19-25, 2026

It's National Library Week, April 19-25, 2026. The American Library Association picks a theme each year, this year it's: Find Your Joy!

We’re celebrating all week long! Stop by the library or follow us on Instagram to join the fun.

Monday, April 20

Library Love Wall

  • Come to the library and write on our "library love wall." You can tell us what brings you joy, shout out a library employee, and/or tell us what you love about Schaffer.
  • Visit @schaffer on Instagram to watch "shout out" videos featuring our student employees and full time staff. Take a look at ALL the amazing people who make Schaffer such a great library and a fabulous place to work.

Tuesday, April 21

Library Workers' Day

  • Stop by and thank a library employee on Library Workers' Day.
  • Learn more about the secret lives of Schaffer librarians on Instagram.

Wednesday, April 22

Outreach Day!

  • The OwLS (Schaffer's very own student outreach team) will have snacks and surprises in the library.

Thursday, April 23

Life After Union

  • Folks from ITS and Special Collections & Archives will show you how to preserve your information after graduation and leave a legacy in the College archives.

Friday, April 24

The Great Book Exchange

  • If you’re looking for something new to read—or just want to clear those finished books off your nightstand—bring them to Schaffer! We’ll be collecting books all week. On Friday, we’ll organize them (we’re librarians, we can’t help ourselves!) so you can easily browse the selections during the afternoon exchange.

We look forward to seeing you in the library. Please come help us celebrate this week devoted to recognizing the importance of and joy you can find in the library.
