I've been at Union for more than 20 years. Originally, I chose to work here because I was impressed by how much a friend who is a Union graduate had loved his college experience. I stay because of all that Union students make of their college years, both academically and personally.
My office in Grant Hall has a spectacular view overlooking the campus. In the spring, in particular, when the campus blossoms and bustles, I love watching from the window to see all the students together, walking and talking. My husband and I are avid basketball fans, and we really appreciate a good game. When our daughter was younger, she was the ball girl for the Union women’s basketball team. I enjoy our team so much because they have such spirit.
I also make time for reading, classical music, opera and cooking. My favorite books are Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann and Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. I love the Emerson String Quartet, which plays in the Union College Concert Series in Memorial Chapel each year. These world-class musicians have joined students and faculty for dinner in one of our Minerva Houses. These are the kinds of opportunities that make me excited to work at Union.
