    This is what this day is all about! Get ready to connect with classmates through your Shared Experiences, a small-group program designed around common interests. With 16 exciting options, these programs offer a fun and meaningful way to build community before classes begin.

    Students should rank their preferences in their applicant portal by August 4th, and you'll find out your assigned experience in mid-August!

    The day will look different depending on which Shared Experience you're participating in.

    Come enjoy a crystal bowl sound bath. This therapeutic practice features the pure, resonant tones and vibrations of quartz crystal singing bowls to induce deep relaxation and balance in the body and mind. During the hour long session, you may relax, sit or lay down,and experience the immersive soundscape. Please turn phones off during the practice and refrain from talking. Wear comfortable clothes. Dressing in layers is recommended. Bring a yoga mat, pillows, bolster and/or blankets for comfort.

    Mat Pilates in the Lower Exercise Room in Alumni Gym - Mat Pilates is a low-impact all-levels fitness class that focuses on building strength, flexibility and postural alignment. Each class will work to balance and strengthen all muscle groups, with an emphasis on core strength and spinal mobility. Challenging but accessible, Mat Pilates is a great way to lengthen and sculpt your body and will leave you feeling strong and mobile.

    Sculpt with Sof in the Lower Exercise Room in Alumni Gym - Sculpt with Sof is a fun, full body, high intensity workout class! We will incorporate weights, mobility, resistance training and cardio to implement muscle growth and strength. All levels are welcome. This class is great if you are looking to tone up and also get some personalized training in a group setting.

Whether you need quiet study areas, research support, textbooks from other libraries around the country or world, a place to collaborate with classmates, or just a spare computer charger, Schaffer Library has you covered.

    Careers and Community – Learn how Union’s Career Center can help you explore opportunities, build skills, and prepare for your future. Hear from Ann Ciancia, Title IX Coordinator and Director of Equal Opportunity, about your rights under Title VI and the resources that support an equitable campus community for all.

    All That We Share – Join the Office of Intercultural Affairs (OIA) for an engaging session focused on connection and community. Through this fun and thoughtful activity, you’ll explore the things that make us unique and the many ways we’re more alike than we think.

    Academic Support at Union – Succeeding in college takes more than just showing up. It takes initiative, curiosity, and knowing when to ask for help. Luckily, Union offers a wide range of academic resources to help you thrive, but it’s up to you to take advantage of them. In this session, you’ll hear from your Class Dean, Dean Rosen, and connect with experts from Academic Advising, the Office of Student Success, and the Writing Center. Whether you need help planning your courses, want to sharpen your study strategies, or just need a sounding board, these are the people who can support you every step of the way.     Barre Fusion in the Lower Exercise Room in Alumni Gym - An all-levels fitness class that combines elements from barre, Pilates and yoga. This is a whole-body workout with both mat and standing work. Our barre moves will be practiced “off the barre” for an additional challenge. Build
    strength, flexibility and body awareness with a low-impact, medium-intensity workout that will leave you feeling energized and strong. Mats and props will be provided. Participants should bring a water bottle.

    Yoga Flow in the Lower Exercise Room in Alumni Gym - Yoga Flow is designed to improve strength, flexibility and balance. Beginners and experienced yoga practitioners are welcome! Participants will be guided through a series of yoga postures with a strong focus on alignment and the connection between body, mind and breath. The class begins with a brief guided meditation into breath awareness, includes warm ups, a main flow practice and ends with a cool down and relaxation to leave you feeling refreshed!

    Time slots available throughout the day starting at 8:00am - you'll sign up during orientation!

    Join hundreds of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends for the single biggest day of community engagement at the College. Some examples of sites may include community cleanups, community schools programming, urban farming, park maintenance, supporting local nonprofit events, and event assisting with and attending some of the local festivals happening that day!
