Students serving at a Schenectady community garden

John Calvin Toll Day of Community Engagement is a longtime Union College tradition - connecting students with Schenectady and other Capital Region communities. Students work alongside local community members to support ongoing projects and activities in the community while learning about local culture and needs.

MoonBee with the MoonCatcher Project

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of community action and collective care, the Union College MLK Week of Service brings students, faculty, staff, and community partners together for a series of community-engaged volunteer projects and reflection opportunities. Community Carnival is a Union College tradition where we invite local families to a free on-campus event that includes food, games, crafts, sports, and more! Hundreds of participants attend each year.

Volunteers are needed to help run all activities (games, crafts, sports), serve food, and set up/clean up.
