Prof. Orzel Presents Talks in the United Kingdom and Sweden

Prof. Orzel recently gave talks in the United Kingdom and Sweden. On August 13, he gave a public lecture as part of the Bristol (UK) Festival of Ideas, hosted by the Institute of Physics, on “Discovering Your Inner Scientist,” explaining the connection between everyday activities like crossword puzzles, card games, and sports and famous scientific discoveries. The Festival is run by a consortium of publishing and cultural groups that “aims to stimulate people’s minds and passions with an inspiring programme of discussion and debate throughout the year.” On August 29, Chad presented two lectures as part of the Nordita Workshop for Science Writers on Quantum Theory, on "High Precision, Not High Energy: Using Atomic Physics to Look Beyond the Standard Model."The workshop, hosted by the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University, brought a collection of journalists and writers from around the world to hear a series of lectures from international experts on quantum mechanics, and discuss the issues involved in communicating modern physics to the general public.
