Greenfield will be the keynote speaker at the year’s Alumni and Friends Symposium.

Greenfield will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 in the Nott Memorial. Her talk kicks off Homecoming and Family Weekend, which welcomes thousands of visitors to campus for a three-day, festive fall celebration

The photographer’s work generally deals with issues relating to youth culture, gender identity, body image, eating disorders and more. Her work has been featured in such publications as the New York Times Magazine, Elle and GQ. Her full-length feature documentary, "Thin," follows four women through their struggles with anorexia and bulimia. She also has published an accompanying book with the same title.

"I am intrigued by the way the female body has become a tablet on which our culture’s conflicting messages about femininity are written and rewritten," Greenfield said in her director's statement.
