Pianist Nareh Arghamanyan returns to Memorial Chapel Sunday, March 18 at 3 p.m. for her second appearance as part of the College's Concert Series.
Arghamanyan will begin her recital with Muzio Clementi’s inventive "Sonata in F-Sharp minor, Op. 25, No. 5" followed by Franz Schubert’s "Impromptus, D. 899," Sergei Rachmaninoff’s "Etudes-tableaux, Op. 33, Nos. 1-6" and two of his dramatic "Morceaux de fantaisie, Op. 3" and ending with Mily Balakirev’s “Islamey."
Arghamanyan is in the midst of her 2011-12 season from Asia to Europe to the United States making debuts and return appearances at a wide variety of venues accompanying symphony orchestras, performing in recital and visiting festivals such as Vermont’s prestigious Marlboro Festival. Her young career has been marked by an impressive number of awards including first prize at the 2007 Campus International competition I Pontoise and the 2005 Josef Dichler Pinao Competition in Vienna.
Born in 1989 in Armenia, Arghamanyan began her piano studies at 5 and entered the Tchaikovsky Music School for Talented Children in Yerevan at 8.
