Assistant Professor of Psychology Christopher Chabris will give a lecture as part of One Day University, a national adult education program that brings together scholars from some of the world’s top schools, including Harvard, Yale and Brown.
Chabris’s lecture, “How Our Intuitions Deceive Us,” is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, at the Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue, New York City.
The lecture is related to the acclaimed book by Chabris and Daniel J. Simons, a psychology professor at the University of Illinois, The Invisible Gorilla, And Other Ways Our Intuitions Deceive Us.
Now in paperback, the book, according to the authors, tackles “six everyday illusions that profoundly influence our lives: the illusions of attention, memory, confidence, knowledge, cause, and potential.”
Chabris joined Union in 2007. He earned his Ph.D. in psychology from Harvard, where he was a research associate and lecturer. His book reviews have appeared in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
