Valedictorian: Mark B. Chaskes

Hometown: Williamsville, N.Y.

Major: Biology and Economics major in the Leadership in Medicine program

Activities: One of the founding members of MEDLIFE, Chaske is also active in Hillel, Chabad and Alpha Epsilon Pi. He is also holds a board position in the Order of Omega, the Greek honor society. He is a tour guide for the Admissions office and a tutor at the Writing Center and the Economics Department. Off campus, he volunteers weekly as a smoking cessation counselor at the Schenectady Free Health Clinic.

Plans after graduation: This summer, Chaskes will complete his Masters of Business Administration in health care management from Union Graduate College. He will attend medical school in the fall at Albany Medical College.

Delman

Salutatorian: Erin M. Delman

Hometown: Rolling Hills, Calif.

Major: Geology and Latin American and Caribbean Studies double major with a minor in Environmental Science and Policy

Activities: President of the Environmental Club and student co-chair of U Sustain, Delman has also served as news editor and columnist for the Concordiensis. She has also been a volunteer for Campus Kitchens, an Admissions tour guide, member of the Student Alumni Association and radio show host for WRUC.

Plans after graduation: Delman will attend the University of California at Irvine, working on her doctorate degree in the in the Earth System Science Department, focusing on climate and hydrologic modeling.

Tri Trang

Student Speaker: Tri M. Trang

Hometown: Worcester, Mass.

Major: Biology and Economics major in the Leadership in Medicine program

Activities: A Posse Scholar, Trang was part of the health care management course to start a smoking cessation program for city residents. He volunteers as a smoking cessation counselor, offering nicotine replacement therapy. He is the founder of U-Break, the College’s break dancing club.

Plans after graduation: Trang will begin medical school in the fall at Albany Medical College.
