Kaitlyn Suarez ’15 is the Kenney Community Center’s Volunteer of the Week.

As the student leader for the Good Eats program, where students teach healthy cooking methods to individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, Suarez and other volunteers utilize the Minerva kitchens to prepare and cook meals before eating together.

Additionally, she is involved in Colleges Against Cancer, the Environmental Club and Octopus’ Garden. Suarez also participated in Focus on the First Year, Re-Bloom and America Reads.

A track and field, cross country runner and geology major, Suarez is originally from Wading River, NY. As part of the Becker Career Center Community Service Internship, she will be volunteering at the Stony Brook Medical Hospital on the pediatric oncology floor this summer, where she will be helping the Child Life Specialists to create activities for hospitalized children. Suarez will also be helping with the Sunrise Day Camp, programming for cancer patients and their siblings to bring summer camp to the hospital.
