The Kenney Community Center would like to recognize the students in its Community Experience Pre-Orientation program.

Arriving early to school, 51 first-year students and 10 upperclassmen serving as leaders to each group, participated in local community service programs in Schenectady and learned about local attractions in the city.

Student leaders included Elite Williams ’13, Shawn Tangnavarad ’13, Jarryd O’Connell ’14, Mike Wollner ’14, Samantha Moyer ’14, Fatima Hosain ’15, MaryKate Farber ’15, Kaila Amirault ’15, Liz Devine ’15 and Dan Hurwitt ’15.

One of the many projects done by volunteers was serving a meal at both the City Mission and the Salvation Army, as well as painting the First United Methodist Church’s basement to be used by youth groups.

At the Glendale Home and the Heritage Home, students visited with the residents. They also helped rebuild the South Avenue Park’s swing set and painted the playground equipment. They also did various other community projects that involved cleaning, landscaping and other forms of beautification.
