Tuesday Common Hour events announced

Therese McCarty, the Stephen J. and Diane K. Ciesinski Dean of Faculty and vice president for Academic Affairs, recently announced this term’s Tuesday Common Hour events.

All programs are held from 12:55 to 1:45 p.m. unless otherwise noted, and all members of the campus community are welcome unless indicated. The events include:

Jan. 15: Strategic Plan campus meeting on section D2, “Integrative Thought and Action for the 21st Century,” Olin Auditorium

Jan. 22: Strategic Plan campus meeting on section D1, “An Academic Village that Reflects the Diversity of Our World,” Olin Auditorium

Jan. 29: “What is Digital Scholarship?” presented by Gardner Campbell, Ph.D., director of Professional Development and Innovative Initiatives, Division of Learning Technologies and associate professor of English at Virginia Polytechnic Institute; Olin Auditorium; part of the NY6 Digital Scholarship Speaker Series

Feb. 5: Strategic Plan discussion led by “Group 7,” charged with identifying “What’s Missing in the Strategic Plan?” Olin Auditorium

Feb. 12: Faculty meeting, Olin Auditorium

Feb. 19: Faculty meeting, Olin Auditorium

Feb. 26: Faculty Mentoring Luncheon, sponsored by the Union College Women’s Commission; open to all faculty members

March 5: Faculty division/center meetings

March 12: A discussion of Massive Open Online Courses, led by Professor Ashok Ramasubramanian, will explore how MOOC’s are poised to change the higher education landscape and avenues for successful adaptation; Lippman 017
